In this study, this woman lost all of her upper teeth and wore a complete denture for many years. Due to the shrinkage of
the jawbone, her upper denture became very unstable. Despite many relines and the use of denture adhesive, her denture was
continually falling out and she was unable to chew properly. She chose to proceed with an implant supported restoration and
had 8 implants placed in the upper jaw upon which 2 bars were attached. The implants resist further deterioration and help
to preserve the remaining jaw bone. A denture was fabricated to fit over the bars.

Despite the amount of bone that was lost, the denture provides the proper support for the facial muscles, resulting in
a beautiful smile. This type of restoration uses the implants and the bars to support the denture, resulting in stable teeth.
The denture is only supported by the implants and usually does not cover the roof of the mouth. There are usually no pressure
or sore areas created on the gums. Also, chewing ability with an implant supported denture is very similar to natural
teeth and although the denture is removable, it's like having your own teeth back!
